Beginners Piano Lessons – My Story

Time To Learn The Piano

After years of spending my time taking care of everyone else, I decided that it was time for me to live some of my dreams as well. My daughter had been begging for piano lessons, so I thought that it would be really fun for us to both start beginners piano lessons together.

I would start a week or two ahead of her so that I could help her as she progressed. It ended up being a great plan and we are both making excellent progress.

Online Piano Lessons

Because we don’t have a lot of time and extra resources, I knew that I would probably like a program that facilitated taking piano lessons online. That way, we wouldn’t have to change our schedules and spend a lot of time running back and forth to a studio. I also realized that, while more expensive up front, it was actually cheaper in the long run to learn to play piano online. Most of the teachers I looked into would have charged over a hundred dollars each month to teach both myself and my daughter. While we had to budget to purchase the beginning piano lessons, it was a one time expense and there has been no added cost since, which has been really nice.

What I Found In The Lessons

I am a very self motivated person, so I really appreciated the format that our program used. Each lesson is broken down in easy to understand bits. I can go on my computer and do the lesson portion and activity. There is then a lot of other resources for me to use while practicing my new pieces. I can listen to the piece played, so I get a good idea of what it is supposed to sound like. I can then take the printed music to our piano and master it myself. There are also games that helped us master things like timing, theory and reading music.

One of the greatest things about learning to play piano online was how it was so intuitive and flexible. It was so easy to follow and understand. It was simple enough that my daughter had no problem keeping up with me. However, there was enough variety that I didn’t get bored. That has to be rare to find a program that is great for both adults and children. I think I might add my own selections once I get a bit more skilled, but for now, it is more than enough.

My Dream

I’m so glad that I decided to take that leap and live one of my dreams. I’ve always wanted to learn to play the piano. Now, my daughter and I are both taking beginners piano lessons from the convenience of our own home. I can fit the lessons into my busy schedule. It’s also great that I can help my daughter with her progress as well. I would definitely recommend this choice to anyone who wants to learn to play, but doesn’t have a lot of time to run around to appointments.
